Reusable Bags Given to the SMCM Community

On the weeks of Oct. 21 and 28, the Office of Sustainability delivered reusable bags to each of the faculty, staff, and students of the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Community. These bags were made of cotton found on the floor of a factory in India. President Jordan suggested the idea of reusable bags to reduce the amount of plastic bags on campus. 

To continue promoting the reduction of waste in SMCM’s community,  the Office of Sustainability will be holding a yard sale on the lawn of Glendenning Hall on November 20th.f there is inclement weather this event will be held in the Michael P. O’Brien Athletics and Recreation Center from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. If faculty, staff, or students bring their reusable bags, they will have the opportunity to personalize them.
