Women’s Tennis Defeated by Mary Washington in CAC Semifinals

The women’s tennis team finishes third in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) after losing 9-0 to the University of Mary Washington, the number one team in the conference.

The Lady Hawks end the season with a 3-3 conference record and a 12-8 overall record.

The team’s success in recent weeks has been scattered with a 7-2 loss against Salisbury University, a 6-3 win against York College, a 5-4 loss to Hood College.

Two days later they defeated Hood 6-3 but then endured the loss to Mary Washington during the tournament.

Mary Washington’s women’s tennis is ranked tenth in the nation and won their sixth straight CAC Women’s Tennis Title after defeating Salisbury University on April 24.

This was Mary Washington’s seventeenth championship win.

However, St. Mary’s overall record is a school record for most wins in a season. Senior Jerilyn Rogalski and first year Kathleen Ramsey with 12 wins each, set school records for most wins in a single season.
