Men’s Tennis Trounced During CAC Quarterfinals

York College shut out the St. Mary’s men’s tennis team, ending the Seahawks’ season with an 1-5 conference record and an 11-10 overall record.

The team finished the season with a 6 loss streak starting with a loss in the first week April against Bridgewater College.  The Seahawks lost against York College previously, on April 16 with same score as their most recent loss, which ended the Seahawks’ regular season.

The match on April 18, the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Quarterfinals, saw the Seahawks lose 9-0. York ranked third in the CAC while St. Mary’s finished in sixth.

The University of Mary Washington won the CAC Championship after sweeping Salisbury University on April 23.

Junior Kenny Nugent was awarded the CAC Player-of-the-Week award on April 22 for his recent tennis performances.

With 15 wins this season, he set a school single-season record for most wins. He had a 15-5 record this season.

The Seahawks would have matched the single season record for the most wins in one season if they had won one more match this season.
